Association of Accounting Technician (AAT)

The Association of Accounting Technicians, or AAT, is a UK qualification and professional body for vocational accountants, with over 133,000 members worldwide. This is a technician level qualification offering higher apprenticeships.  This qualification can be an alternative career pathway for Jaffna College students who successfully complete the exams and obtain relevant supervised work experience to become a practicing accountant at the technician level.  The AAT is based in London, with branches with membership all over the UK and the rest of the world.  Students with this qualification are quickly able to be employed in Sri Lanka.

At Jaffna College, classes are held either in the early morning or after school hours.

The Head of Department Professional Studies and the panel of lecturers who deliver this course provide committed service to this extended program. College students in the Commerce Stream who have at least two stages of the AAT before they sit for their final examination need not wait for their Advanced Level results but may proceed directly to CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) Sri Lanka and others.
