The annual Jaffna College English Day Celebration was held on the 17th July 2016 at 10:00 am at Ottley Hall.

This is a special occasion every year where all the speeches, recitations, songs and activities are in the English language.  Enthusiastic children prepare and rehearse their presentations carefully to present them in front of an appreciative audience.

The program stared with prayer led by the chaplain Rev.P.Thevarajah.

This year’s event included poems, recitations, role-plays, speeches, drama, singing, dancing and the ever-popular action songs.

The special guests comprised a group of young volunteers from Australia who had come to Jaffna for three weeks especially to assist College teachers and students with teaching English.  There was Anoj Jeyadevan, Samuel Eidelson, Luxsha Jeyadevan,  Anita Christie David, Timothy Mercer and Brindha Punneyalingam. They distributed the prizes to the winners of the first, second and third places in the English Day competition. All the special guests gave their greetings to Jaffna College.

At the conclusion of the day, Principal Rev.Dr.D.S.Solomon made some remarks and thanked all those who participated and those who helped the students prepare their presentations.  He then pronounced the Benediction.
