A Service of Praise and Thanksgiving to God Almighty for the dedicated services ofMr. A. C. Francis, Miss. A. J. Ganesan and Mr. M. Partheeban who recently completed twenty-five years at Jaffna College was held at the Cathedral Church, Vaddukoddai at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday, the 19th of February 2020. Mr. A. C. Francis who holds a BA degree, a Diploma in Education and an MA degree in Cultural Studies is a Deputy Principal of the College at present. Miss. A. J. Ganesan who holds a BA degree and an MA in Tamil teaches in the Primary School. Mr. M. Partheeban who is specially trained in Art teaches Art in the Senior School. Miss. A. J. Ganesan and Mr. M. Partheeban participated in the Service and received the Holy Bible from the Rev. Dr. D. S. Solomon, the Principal of the College.

The Rev. Dr. D. S. Solomon called the congregation to worship. The Rev. P. Thevarasa, Chaplain of Jaffna College said the Prayer of Thanksgiving. Scripture readings were done by Mas. A. Thomas Thuvaragan, student of Jaffna College, Mrs. B. N. Mohan, Supervisor of the Primary School, and Ms. G. N. Muthurajah, Vice Principal. The Litany and the Dedication were led by Mr. N. V. Jeyakumar, Deputy Principal and the Rev. P. Thevamithiran, Junior Vice Principal, respectively. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Daniel Thiagarajah, Bishop of the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Jaffna College, gave a sermon. The College Choir sang a special song composed by Mr. J. C. Jayaseelan, who is a poet and non-academic staff of the College. The Rev. P. Thevamithiran, Junior Vice Principal of the College and a talented Carnatic singer, set the song to music. The Service concluded with Prayer and Benediction by Bishop Daniel Thiagarajah.

Students, teachers, non-academic staff, alumni and well-wishers of the College, family members of the jubilarians, the clergy and the administrators of Uduvil Girls’ College participated in this meaningful Service of Praise and Thanksgiving. With these three members who recently entered into their 25th year of service at Jaffna College, the number of silver jubilarians at the College has risen to 7. Mr. T. Kaneshamoorthy, the Rev. Dr. D. S. Solomon, Mr. N. V. Jeyakumar and the Rev. P. Thevamithiran are the other four members of the Jaffna College staff who have served the Institution for more than 25 years.
